A conference building on specific narratives of the New Forest, we will explore themes of place, people and natural landscapes in relation to National Parks, Public Art Collections, access to land and collective acts of ecological care.

Rural Facets

A project exploring ruralities and artist practices in collaboration with VASW. Rural Facets is a trio of gatherings for artists to network, share practice and amplify our own narratives of the rural.

PaC

PaC is a forum for artists exploring ideas and modes of contemporary art-making that exist at the intersection of people and place. With monthly meetups happening in the New Forest we test and share ideas that inform our practices. Supporting each other and positioning ourselves as creative commoners. More info »

A series of commissioned sonic artworks to be experienced via headphones whilst meandering amongst the trees. Responding to ideas of the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing. Download for a self-led experience.

Dappled Light

12/13 March 2022
An exhibition that brings together diverse contemporary artists within the context of the Woodgreen Village Hall and its striking figurative murals, originally painted in the 1930s. The artists use an array of materials and mediums, including sculptures, ceramics, textiles, hair, drawings and videos, bringing in fresh perspectives to this now historic but still ‘modern’ context. Traversing Terrains

New Forest is a unique place of expansive large open spaces of forestry, coast and heathland. Traversing Terrains is an alternative guidebook of sorts, featuring artist pages that explores the current modes and new ways of experiencing this ancient terrain.

During the Covid 19 crisis alongside online meet-ups PaP have established People + Place (mail) as an alternative mode of discussion and communication. Sharing distinct individual experiences and exploring IRL aspects of this period of isolation and distancing. Towards MTP

Research and development of MTP was supported by a-n artist bursary award, the generosity of participating artists and other individuals and local organisations. Initially consisting of meet-ups and field-trips with invited artists as a way to survey the Forest and its communities. More info »
